PEWDAK

The Persons with Disabilities Association – Kitui (PEWDAK) was established following an outcry of many neglected cases of disabilities and an ever increasing levels of poverty and near-crisis living conditions of so many of them. The apparent lack of adequate support and little voice resulting from the scattered cases of disabilities as individuals and groups prompted the creation of this umbrella association to bring the persons with disabilities together. The persons with disabilities have remained highly under-informed of their rights and therefore unable to claim their rights and reciprocate the call of duty and responsibility. They do not speak in one voice because unity of purpose has remained elusive. The emphasis of PEWDAK is to avail equal opportunities to all persons with disabilities to improve their living conditions through social, economic and political developments.
